Decorating Process
Meeting the customer
The initial visit to this property was to meet the customer, to review the painting and decorating work they wanted done, to take general notes and give advice on the best way forward to achieve what they were expecting as the end result.
I prepared a detailed quotation and emailed this to the customer. After this, I contacted them to ensure they had received the quotation and to advise I would be more than happy to answer any questions about the quotation or to provide more information if required.

Working with the customer for the colour designs
Once the quotation had been accepted, I returned to the customers’ house to discuss the colour theme for the exterior joinery. We discussed at length the colours that the customer had in mind and viewed the colour fan decks together. I made a list of tester colours, which I ordered and then put them on the brush out boards. I dropped the boards back to the customer a few days later. By leaving the brush out boards with the customer, this allows them to review the proposed colours alongside the existing house bricks, tile hanging and guttering.

Preparation and Painting
For this house painting project, I used water-based paints. The woodwork was primed with one coat of Zinsser 123 plus. A suitable two-part filler system was used to fill any holes, digs or timber repairs although a carpenter had already undertaken some repairs. This was all rubbed down, dusted off and wiped over with a tach cloth. I then applied a further coat of Zinsser 123 plus.
For the exterior woodwork, I applied Zinsser All Coats Exterior Satin in water base. This was then completed with a further two coats and I rubbed down between each coat, to leave a flawless finish.
To conclude the project, the tape was removed from the windows and I then wiped over the glass looking to leave it clean and shiny.
